Sophie Song works at the intersection of AI and workers, both as a researcher and organizer.
Sophie Song is a researcher at DAIR focused on the intersection of AI and workers. They have a background in computer science, organizing and policy with much of their career centered on the intersection of tech and social justice. Some of their previous work includes building a worker-centered AI policy agenda at the AFL-CIO Tech Institute, shepherding algorithmic accountability legislation in the US Senate as a TechCongress Fellow, and combating algorithmic harms in the child welfare system with Movement Alliance Project.
They also have experience in community, electoral and labor organizing in the Asian American community of Philadelphia. Sophie is a former Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA) fellow hosted at Asian Americans United and founding member of the APALA Philadelphia Chapter. In a previous life, Sophie was also a software engineer and data scientist in both the public and private sector.
